A Glimpse of the Fatimi-Alawi Relationship

وا̍ڶــصــﻼ̍ۃ وا̍ڶــســﻼم ؏ــڶــﮯ ســېــدنــا̍ ۛﷴ وآڵــہ

The Holy Prophet (Blessings be upon him) said, "Allah Almighty ordered me to marry Ali to Fatima"

Hazrat Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib alaihis salam showing his love and fondness for Hazrat Sayyida Fatima Azzahra alaihas salam, in poetry:

قد فُزتَ يا عودَ الأَراكِ بثغْرِها * ما خِفتَ يا عودَ الأراكِ أراكا

O stick of siwak, how lucky you are that you won her mouth!

Were you not afraid, O stick of siwak, that I may see you there?

ولو كُنْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِ القتالِ قتلتُك * ما فازَ منِّي يا سواكُ سواكا

Had you been someone I could fight with, I would have surely killed you!

No one has ever escaped from me in battle, O siwak, except you!

Abu Saeed al-Khudri related, "One day, Ali ibn Abi Talib was very hungry. He went to Fatima and said, 'O Fatima!

Do you have some food for me to eat?' Fatima replied, ' No, by the Lord Who has chosen my father for Prophethood and has given you wilayat, we have no food at all. Two days have passed since we have had any food, and if I had some, I would have certainly preferred to give it you Instead of me and my sons. Ali said, "O Fatimah! Why did you not inform me earlier so that I could have arranged food for all of you?' Fatima replied, 'O Abul Hasan! I felt embarrassed before my Lord to burden you with something beyond your ability."

At one time, the Prophet of Allah went to the house of Ali and Fatima, and saw that both of them were busy grinding millet. He said, "Which one of you is more tired?" Ali replied, "Fatima is more tired than I am." The Holy Prophet told her to stand aside and then he sat in her place and helped Ali in grinding the millet.

Throughout her marriage life, Lady Fatima lived up to her holy nature and position, as the Holy Messenger's daughter, the ideal wife and ideal mother. Yet, she remained the same devoted worshipper of Allah Almighty as she was in her father's house, the Holy Prophet (Blessings be upon him). Furthermore, she continued taking care of the needy in town and educated the women around her with Islamic knowledge and encouraged them to lead a righteous lifestyle.
